Stephen J. Cohorsky, III, 50, of Keansburg, passed away on February 12, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center. He was born on February 17, 1973, in Avenel and was a lifelong resident before recently moving to Keansburg.

Steve was an outgoing and social person who enjoyed spending time with friends. He was known for his friendly and welcoming nature, always making those around him feel comfortable. Steve was devoted to his wife, Dawn Hickey-Cohorsky, whom he recently married. Their love and companionship were a source of strength and happiness for both of them.

Before falling ill, Steve worked as a heavy equipment operator with Esposito Construction in Colts Neck. He took great pride in his work and was highly skilled in his profession. Steve's dedication and hard work were evident in everything he did.

Although Steve was not able to join the military due to health reasons, he always supported the armed forces. He had a hunting cabin in Liberty, PA, where he made many cherished friendships. When he wasn't hunting in PA, Steve could often be found at the American Legion or the VFW in Liberty, enjoying the company of his friends and local veterans. He had a deep respect for those who served their country.

Steve had a passion for sports and was an avid fan of the NY Jets and NY Mets. He enjoyed following their games and cheering them on. In his younger years, Steve was a competitive bowler in Avenel and even had the opportunity to tour in Reno, Nevada. His bowling skills were admired by many.

Steve had a special place in his heart for his piti-puppies, Goober and Reese. They brought him immense joy and companionship, providing comfort during difficult times.

After Steve became sick, Dawn was his rock. She stood by his side, offering unwavering support and love. Steve often expressed how lucky he was to have found her, and their bond was a testament to the power of love and commitment.

Steve leaves behind his wife, Dawn Hickey-Cohorsky; his in-laws, Tom and Sharon Hickey; his sister-in-law, Jennifer Rutherford; his niece, Nicole Hickey-Weber; and many dear friends who will miss him dearly.
