Robert M. Persons

Robert Martin Persons, passed away surrounded by family on August 26, 2023. Robert was born
in Brooklyn, NY to Ruth and George Persons. In high school he met Mary Moore, and they fell in
love with each other at one of their weekend square dancing excursions.
The two married in 1961, and by 1972 had four children. The house was crowded, sometimes
filled with shouts and oftentimes laughter, but one constant remained - Bob's unending
patience, quiet strength, and steadfast devotion to his family.
The Persons' house was easy to find; Bob's gardening prowess was legendary, and their property
a verdant oasis. Work friends called him ""Cucumber Bob" for all the homegrown produce he
shared.
Bob/Dad later became Pop Pop to ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. All babies
calmed in his arms, all children clamored to hold his hand or for a space on his lap.
Here's how he'll be remembered: he never spoke ill of anyone, never raised his voice or lost his
temper, he was never at a loss for reassuring words. He was plagued with life-long health issues
but never complained or felt sorry for himself. Until the day he died, he would greet his
daughter, Jody, so integral to his care in these past few years, with a big smile and cheerful ""Hi,
Jode!" We loved him so much.
If you would like to honor his legacy, do something kind for someone without expecting
anything in return. Plant and care for something green. Make a child squeal with laughter. In
short, Be Like Bob.
Robert Persons is survived by Mary, his wife of 62 years, his children Andy (Laura), Linda (Jim),
Jody (Bill), and Jennifer (John); his grandchildren Melissa, Denise, Cristina, Sara, Holly, Hannah,
Heather, Jordan, Julia, and Ronin; great-grandchildren Kelsey, Caleb, Addyson, Tessa, Rylee, Allie,
and Andy, and a host of other adoring friends and family.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
