Richard E. Kelly, 64, of Brick, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 27th, after a valiant battle with cancer. Richard was born and raised in Staten Island, NY. He was a son of the late Robert H. Kelly and Margaret Kelly. Richard went into the family business, Roselli Paving Company in Staten Island, where he was a paving contractor for many years and retired as the owner/ operator after his father passed away. He and his family moved to Middletown in 1993 and then to Freehold before he and his wife built their dream home on the water in Brick. Richard was passionate about working and providing for his family. When he was not working, you could probably find him outside. He loved being out in nature. Growing up, his family had many pets, including horses in their back yard, he even competed in bull riding and rodeos. Later in life, his love of nature developed into the quieter sport of fishing, which compelled him to buy a boat so he and his family could spend time on the water. Richard will always be remembered as a giving person who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Richard is survived by his wife, and love of his life since 1984, Donna Kelly, and their two daughters; Katelin and her fiancé, Ray Jones, of Hazlet; and Emily, of Red Bank. He also leaves behind his mother Margaret Kelly of Freehold; sister, Margaret Ann Marten, of Staten Island and brother, James Kelly, of Farmingdale, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
