Palmira Cruz

Palmira Cruz, 61, of Atlantic Highlands, peacefully passed away Tuesday, July 27th, at home surrounded by her family. Palmira was born in Bronx, NY on July 9, 1960, a daughter of the late Palmira Vega-Diaz and survived by Pablo Feliciano-Justiniano. She was raised in New York and later moved from Jersey City to Newark before settling in Atlantic Highlands over 21 years ago. Palmira's love of children led her to a career in education. She was a social worker at the Newark Preschool Council for over 30 years.

  Palmira was truly young at heart and had a zest for life. She loved music and dancing, especially salsa dancing. She was always dressed to the nines with the perfect outfit and her hair and nails done just right. She loved all things Disney, Winnie the Pooh being her favorite. Palmira often challenged her family to games of dominos and poker and enjoyed trips down to Atlantic City. Palmira could also be found cheering on her favorite baseball team, the NY Yankees. But most of all, her favorite times were spent with the people she loved whether she was cooking for them, playing games or watching baseball on tv and just hanging out. Palmira will always be remembered as a selfless, loving woman who was dedicated to her family.  

    Palmira is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Angel Luis Cruz, Sr. and their 3 beloved sons; Angel L. Cruz, Jr., Ariel (Aisha) Cruz and Israel (Jessica) Cruz. She also leaves behind 3 sisters, Carmen Martinez, Awilda Martinez, Nydia Martinez, 4 brothers, Miguel Martinez, Pablo Feliciano Jr., Jose Feliciano, and Raymond Feliciano along with 6 grandchildren; Angel III, Jonathan, Alyssa, Annalise, Judah and Aubrey. Palmira was predeceased by her 3 brothers; Charlie Martinez, Alberto Martinez and Jaime Feliciano.

   A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes RC Church, Atlantic Highlands for immediate family.
