Mary McInally Austin, 79, peacefully passed away at home Sunday, October 23rd, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Glasgow, Scotland on July 9, 1943, a daughter of the late Elizabeth and James Armstrong. Mary lived in Glasgow until 1975, when she came to America. She lived most of her life in the Bayshore area.
Mary was a tough and sassie Scot, but had a heart of gold. She was a caring and devoted mother and grandmother. She adored each and every one of her grandchildren and was affectionately known as "Nana" to everyone. She loved to be with her family and friends and could often be found singing a Scottish tune.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of nearly 40 years, Arthur Austin in 2012, her son Garry Austin in 2014, her daughter Mary Boehm in 2021, her brother William Armstrong and her best friend Carol King.
Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie and Ed Capriani; her son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Melissa Austin; and her son Robert Austin. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren; Arthur (Danielle), AnnMarie, Skye, Gianna, Christopher, Nicholas, Aiden, Evan, Edward and Liam along with 5 great-grandchildren; Logan, Madison, Peyton, Luke and Landon.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on Thursday from 7 - 9 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. A Service will conclude the evening around 8:30 pm.
