Frank Thomson, Sr. Obituary

Frank P. Thomson, Sr., a cherished family man, respected community member, and a beacon of kindness, passed away peacefully at his home in Hazlet on January 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 20, 1958, in New York City, Frank moved to Middletown as a child and spent the majority of his life in Monmouth County before finally settling in Hazlet 20 years ago.

Frank's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and his passion for his work. He is survived by his devoted children, Gregory and his wife Stacey Thomson, and Cassandra and her husband Brandon Daley. Frank was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Dominick, Kaydence, Karleigh, and Ashlyn, who will miss his gentle guidance and infectious laughter. He was a loving brother to Edward, Sandy, and Robert Thomson, as well as Linda Weber and Jeanie Thomson. Frank was predeceased by his son, Frank Jr., in 1998, and his sister, Patricia Ducharme. He was also preceded in death by his biological father, Francis Gilmore, and his parents, Ann and Edward Thomson.

Frank's professional journey was as remarkable as his personal life. After serving in the US Marines, he began his career at International Flavor and Fragrance (IFF) in Hazlet, starting in custodial work. His dedication and intelligence did not go unnoticed, and the company supported his education, leading to his retirement as a respected research and development chemist. His colleagues remember him not only for his sharp mind but also for his ability to lighten the mood with his quick wit and humor.

Outside of work, Frank was a man of many interests and talents. An avid boater and motorcycle enthusiast, he found joy and freedom on the water and the open road. His love for life was evident to all who knew him, and his sense of humor made him the life of the party. Frank also enjoyed moonlighting as a bartender at Buck Smith's, where he could indulge in his love for socializing and making people smile.

Frank was known for his kindness, intelligence, and sense of humor. He was a gentle and supportive presence in the lives of those around him, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. His ability to connect with people and his willingness to help anyone in need made him a role model to many.
