Douglas W. Dice, known to family and friends as Doug, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2026, with his wife by his side. He was 77 years old. Born on June 28, 1948, in Maryland, Doug lived most of his life in the Freehold and Farmingdale area, where he built a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and a deep devotion to the people and places he loved.
Doug spent many years working as a truck driver with Island Transportation, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and dependable nature. He took pride in doing his job well and was respected by those who knew him through his work. Whether he was on the road or at home, Doug carried himself with the steady presence of a man who understood responsibility and took pride in earning his way.
A proud Marine, Doug served his country during the Vietnam War and was stationed in the jungles of Southeast Asia. Those four years left a lasting impact on his life and shaped the man he became. His service was a source of deep pride, and he carried the values of honor, discipline, and resilience with him throughout his life. He was a true patriot who never forgot the meaning of his time in uniform, and his service remained one of the defining chapters of his story.
Doug was also a motorcycle enthusiast who especially loved his Harleys. He looked forward each year to attending Biketober Fest in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he could enjoy the camaraderie, excitement, and freedom that came with the motorcycle community. Riding was more than a pastime to him. It was a passion that brought him joy and reflected his independent spirit. He also enjoyed spending time at Tom’s Tavern, where he could often be found sharing a cold beer with his friends and enjoying good company.
He is survived by his wife of nearly six years, Dr. Rebecca Linke, who stood lovingly by his side until the end. He was predeceased by his first wife, Maryann, in 2016. Doug’s life was enriched by the relationships he formed over the years, and he will be remembered with love by those who knew him best.
Doug will be remembered as a hardworking man, a devoted Marine, a loyal friend, and a loving husband. He lived life with strength and authenticity, and he found happiness in the simple pleasures of good friends, open roads, and the freedom of the ride. His memory will remain a source of comfort and pride to those who loved him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
