Diana Singh Obituary

"Sadarni" Diana Mason Singh, 88, of Holmdel, passed away Sunday, July 16th. Diana was born in Norwich, England on May 11, 1935, a daughter of the late Iris Rose Morter and Harold Philip Mason.  She was raised by her dear Aunt Hilda until the age of 7 and then by her loving grandmother Agnes Morter.  She often expressed that some of the best parts of her childhood years was playing and vacationing by the English seaside with her much loved cousins Shirley, John and Pat.  Diana and her cousins even made light of the WW2 bombing raids and could often be heard singing songs in the underground shelter.  Diana was also very close to her cousin Maureen, whom she often baby-sat for.  They had lovely memories of their time together.   She met her husband at a dance in Scotland before emigrating with her young family to the United States in 1957. They settled in New York City and lived there for 22 years. They then moved to Rockland County, NY, for several years before moving to, and eventually retiring in Holmdel, NJ in 1987.

Diana was a dedicated and cherished executive secretary, whose unwavering commitment and hard work left a lasting impact during her career with Monsanto Corporation. She devoted herself to her profession until her well-deserved retirement in 1991.  Beyond her professional accomplishments, Diana's passions were as boundless as her love for her family. An avid reader, she had a voracious appetite for books, often capable of finishing them in a day.  Cooking was a joyous pursuit for Diana, and she and her husband formed an exceptional team in the kitchen, crafting mouthwatering meals, particularly in the realm of Indian cuisine.  An endearing bond with her son was fortified by their shared love for crossword puzzles. Solving them together brought laughter and camaraderie, building cherished memories.  Diana's vibrant spirit and creativity found expression through various artistic endeavors. From painting to sculpting and knitting, she adorned her home with beautiful creations that will continue to inspire and reflect her artistic flair.  Christmas held a special place in Diana's heart, for it was her favorite holiday. Transforming her home into a winter wonderland with an extensive collection of Christmas decorations, she spread joy to her family and friends who were fortunate enough to bask in the enchanting atmosphere she lovingly created.

Above all, Diana will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a loving grandmother. She poured her heart and soul into caring for her family, always seeking to create a warm and nurturing environment.  With much sorrow, we mourn the passing of Diana, her memory and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed enough to know her.  May her spirit continue to inspire us to embrace life's joys and to love deeply.  May she rest in eternal peace, knowing her family and friends equally loved her.

Diana is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Narinder Singh, their son Dalip Singh, their granddaughter Jessica Snape, half-sisters Barbara and Jillian and step-sister Valerie.  Diana was predeceased by her daughter, Rita Snape, 3 years ago.
