Eva Gorzkowski, 88, died peacefully on Saturday, March 27, 2021, surrounded by her only son George and daughter-in-law Barbara. Eva was born in Poland in 1932. She met her husband Mirek while studying to be a nutritionist. They immigrated to the United States in the early 70s; originally moving to Brooklyn, NY and later lived in Wall, NJ. Finally she lived out most of her life in their home in Boca Raton, FL. Eva had lots of hobbies including knitting, crocheting, sewing, and cooking, but the thing that brought her most joy was walking on the beach with her husband. After he passed away in 2003, she became an avid volunteer regularly walking dogs at the animal shelter and feeding the homeless in her Boca Raton community. Her chrusciki and butter cookies were legendary and always sold-out at Our Lady of Lourdes Christmas Bazaar. Towards the end of her life, Eva returned to New Jersey to live with her son and his family. She got to spend more time with her three granddaughters. Her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator, dearly miss her. Her loving husband, Mirek Gorzkowski and her parents Wladyslaw and Waleria Polakowski predeceased Eva. She is survived by her son George Gorzkowski and his wife Barbara of Holmdel, as well as her granddaughters: Loren Gorzkowski, Megan Gorzkowski and her husband Salvatore Corcione, Julia Gorzkowski and her husband Daniel Baumlin. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 9:15 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church 108 Middletown Rd., Holmdel, NJ 07733. Internment will be in the Cemetery of Our Lady of Chestochowa, Doylestown, PA.
Eva’s final wish was to have a private burial.
